Dense coniferous forests and breathtaking mountain tops mirrored in the gentle waves of the crystal-clear, turquoise-green to blue shimmering waters. Our mountain and valley lakes are so captivating that you can't get away from them and would rather spend day and night at their shores. These picturesque lakes invite you to many activities in the fairytale-like and pristine nature of our alpine region, especially in summer: Starting from romantic walks with your other half, to hikes for the whole family and up to a refreshing dip in their cool waters!
Peaceful valley lakes like the Antholzer See lake in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park are ideal for taking a refreshing plunge and lighting up your children's eyes along easy paths. As a more experienced hiker, on the other hand, you can look forward to spectacular mountain lakes such as the Pragser Wildsee lake in the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, which has already attracted film legends such as Terence Hill and which invites you not only for walks and hikes but also for boat tours. There are also other mountain lakes that you should have seen at least once: the peaceful Fanes Lakes, the lakes called Grünsee and Limosee in St. Vigil/San Vigilio, the Schwarzsee lake in the Gsieser Tal valley, the Hochalpensee lake in Olang/Valdaora or the Grünbachsee lake near Kiens/Chienes.
